Beginning back in 2010, all the games Kevin and Steve have created were developed in-house. Starting with TENZI. So, it’s no surprise that CHIPZI was developed the same way — literally developed in house. Kevin’s house to be specific.
Kevin’s son, Collin, got things rolling with the original idea for CHIPZI. A simple, fast game based on colors and numbers. Kevin liked the concept, so they quickly created a prototype game. Then the real fun started. Kevin and Collin and the rest of the Carroll family and friends played this version of CHIPZI, then that version of CHIPZI, then another version, and another, and yet still another. Over weeks and months, they kept coming up with more and more ways to play CHIPZI.
By the time Kevin and Collin showed it to Steve, there were so many CHIPZI variations, that Steve couldn’t tell if they had a great new game on their hands, or multiple great new games. As crazy as it sounds, the hardest part in developing CHIPZI was cutting back on some of the ways to play.
The CHIPZI games you’re about to play are some of our favorites. But we totally understand if you come up with your own ways to play, developed, of course, in your own house.
Hope you enjoy! Kevin and Steve
